1) MUSICAL STYLES:
The music required throughout this production requires two basic musical styles
a) A typical Rock and Roll accompaniment for the several straight rock songs.
b) A gentler 'folky' guitar type of sound to accompany the more gentle ballads.
2) INSTRUMENTATION:
The band will require the following instruments:
- Simple drum set
- Electric piano
- Bass guitar
- 6 string and 12 string rhythm guitar
- Electric lead guitar
3) VOCAL REQUIREMENTS:
Two types of vocal styles will be required as follows:
a) ROCK STYLE:
Straight 'heavy' rock style as usually sung by males, needed to sing the several rock songs.
This could be provided by the actual band members who can also directly participate throughout the show.
b) BALLAD STYLE:
A gentler and more softer style needed for all predominant 'ballad'songs as sung by members of the cast throughout the show.
This would suggest that female ALTO voices and male TENOR voices would be the best musical choice for this show.
4) WHO SINGS WHAT:
a) For several of the 'rock' style tunes, members of the rock band themselves will sings these songs. The term 'band' will be used with these tunes.
b) For several of the 'rock' style tunes, members of the cast will be required to sing them which could present a possible challenge.
c) For all of the 'ballad' style tunes, members of the cast will be required to sing them.
